to use Active with scaffold with JRails you have to use a different JQUERY_VAR than $

Iny our controllers
set ActionView::Helpers::PrototypeHelper::JQUERY_VAR = ‘jQuery’

in your layout load both prototype and jquery

Lastly, make sure to tell jQuery to not conflict with Prototype over $ in your Javascript:

jQuery.noConflict();

This may be hack-ish but it works.

1. copy vendor/plugins/active_scaffold/frontends/default/views/_list_actions.rhtml to the views directory of the controller you wish to modify.

2. change the code to look similar to this…

In this case I added two new links: [Show Details] and [Edit Details]
changing the array with label names allows you to respect the security checks while still putting the links into the order you want to.

TODO Using an array declared at the controller level instead of a hard coded or even better, extend the action_links to hold it.

Overview

This is the export code originally posted by Samsam that has been repackaged as an Active Scaffold plugin with more configuration options and a FasterCSV implementation (which can be easily overridden)

Even if you don’t need CSV export capability, this plugin is a useful example of how to override and extend Active Scaffold.

Features

Actual CSV export implementation can be easily overridden via a template override
Built in CSV export implementation uses FasterCSV (must be installed via GEM)
Several customization options available at both global and controller config layer including:
- show_form – skip customization form and just automatically export from action link
- allow_full_download – allow user to only export the current page or all AR items
- force_quotes – Always wrap all fields in quotes (using FCSV feature)
- default_full_download – Whether page or full download is the default option in show_export form
- default_delimiter – defaults to , (different from the prior code’s default of ;)
- default_skip_header – default for the omit header form option
- default_deselected_columns – list of columns that the user can export but aren’t selected by default

Installation

For the latest functionality, you’ll need a version of Active Scaffold 1.1 (currently trunk revision 582 or later) and the current trunk version of the activescaffoldexport plugin:

Usage

Add the export action to your controller

To add the export action to all your controllers, and set application-wide defaults, you can add a block to your application.rb file:

  end

Note the use of export_force_quotes instead of export.force_quotes, take a look at lib/config/core.rb where the Active Scaffold::Config level instance variables are defined.

Using the Model to Define Required Fields

Active Scaffold has a required field option. For example, you can enter the following in your controller:

config.columns[:col_name].required = true

And the following in your model:

validates_presence_of :col_name

First solution

Here’s how you can use the validations from your model to build these required fields automatically:

1. download and install the Validation_Reflection plugin. This plugin will help you pull out the validations that you’ve added to your model.

2. add a centralized way to pull out the “validates_presence_of” validations and apply them to the scaffold. Here’s a simple helper that I added to /lib:

Make sure to place the add_required_columns call after any config.columns declaration

Second solution

1. As in the first solution, download and install the validation_reflection rails plugin.

2. Add the following code (might be to RAILS_ROOT/lib/active_scaffold_helper.rb , I myself have an active_scaffold_hacks plugin into which I throw all the additions and patches. Read this for more info: http://errtheblog.com/posts/67-evil-twin-plugin )

Now, if you defined a validate_presence_of validation on a field (in your model class), then this field will be defined required (watch the CSS classes of the field labels). No need to add code to the controller at all!

If you want to override this setting (to either way), just use the normal Active Scaffold syntax in your controller:
